2025 Updates!

In between two snow storms and ice rains, it seems to be the time for a new blog post! You know winter is the period for us farmers to rest our minds and bodies, but also to review the previous season and plan for the next one. Rebecca has been working on the crop plan and in just a couple of weeks we will start the first seedlings of the season.

I believe our winter projects and weekly discussions would mostly seem boring to you BUT amongst them, we have some news to share with you!

First, things that are going to stay the same:

  • We’re continuing with our Community Supported Agriculture program in Halifax and Bridgewater (or on farm).

    • CSA pick-up in Halifax will stay on Tuesdays from 5.30 - 7.30pm at The Grainery Food Co-Op on Agricola St.

    • CSA pick-up in Bridgewater will stay on Tuesdays from 4 - 5.30pm at the LCLC.

  • We’ll be selling veggies and flowers throughout the summer at the Petite General Store in Petite Rivière, starting in May.

You can still register to become a member of our 2025 Community Supported Agriculture program.

Now, for the changes...

We won’t be returning to the Privateer Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market in Liverpool. It was not an easy decision to leave this market.  We love our committed customers and recognize the need for local food options in small and rural communities. Unfortunately, the financial reality of our small farm necessitates the exploration of larger markets as we find our footing. Because of this, we are adjusting our CSA pick-up at the farm in Lapland from Friday afternoons to Tuesdays from 4pm onwards.

We’re excited to start attending the Lunenburg Farmers’ Market on Thursdays from 8am - 12pm at the Lunenburg Arena. Our first market will be mid-May. We’re quite happy and excited about this new location and can’t wait to meet and introduce new customers to the farm.

Lastly, we want to hire another employee, on top of our usual crew. At the end of the season, we all agreed that another set of hands would be great. Not only do we keep slowly but surely scaling-up but also we want to improve our quality of life by working a few less hours and taking a bit of time off the farm to fully enjoy summer - and also do more weeding! We will post all the details about the hiring process soon.

Until then, we hope that you enjoy your winter.
